Obituary

Alan Joseph Authement, 82, a native of Houma, Louisiana, and longtime resident of Slidell, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, while surrounded by his loving family.

Alan lived a life rooted in hard work and devotion to those he loved. A dedicated father, grandfather, and friend, he could always be counted on for a helping hand, a practical solution, or a good story.

A talented welder and carpenter, Alan never truly retired. He generously shared his skills and took pride in fixing what was broken and building what was needed. His love of collecting scrap metal made him and his truck a familiar sight throughout the community. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and a good seafood boil.

Above all, Alan treasured his family. He spent his final years surrounded by their love and care. His stories, wisdom, and willingness to lend a hand will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Alan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Harvey Authement.

He is survived by his children, Michael Authement (Jessica), Billie Authement, Faye Authement, and Annette Authement; his stepchildren, David Touchette (Sharon), Danny Touchette (Wanda), and Debbie Richardson; and his grandchildren, Jacob Richardson, Brandon Richardson, Grant Touchette, Taylor Redding, Grace Touchette, and Reagan Authement.

A funeral service honoring Alan’s life will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026, at Honaker Funeral Home–Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 Gause Boulevard West, Slidell, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
