Our beloved, Alton Paul Baker, Jr. was taken from us in the early morning of , Saturday, March 5, 2022.
Al was a beloved driver for his patients at Beacon Behavioral in Bogalusa. Earlier in his life, he was responsible for the welding and upkeep of the Chalmette ferry boat. He was a third degree mason and served in 2011 as Master of his Masonic Lodge. He was an avid volunteer for the Audubon Zoo in his home town of New Orleans and helped create many standing exhibits. Al enjoyed Colonial reenacting, leather smithing, and black smithing. His love of Star Wars, Stargate, Game of Thrones, and Dr. Who brought him a wide world of fandom friends. He was excited to join the upcoming Brethren of the Coast, a historical re-enacting group based out of Chalmette. Al volunteered with members of the Anne Rice Vampire Lestat Fan Club as an assistant liaison to authors with his wife Dionne and was loved by so many published authors.
Al was born in Gentilly and grew up Louisiana proud fishing the bayous around Lake Pontchatrain. He owned a shrimp boat for many years.
Al met his wife Dionne in 1984. When they reunited in 2013 it was love fated through time and space. They married in 2016.
Alton is survived by his loving parents Joyce Zuviceh Baker and Alton Paul Baker, Sr. as well as his sister Diana Baker Plauche.
He is survived by his son Alton Baker, III, his daughter Katheryn, his stepson Dylan Charlet, and his grandchildren Nigel, Maxine, Annabelle, Harley, and Katarina.
Funeral Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA, on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
Friends may visit that morning beginning at 9:00am.
Masonic Services will begin at 10:30 am, followed by Catholic Funeral Services at 11:00am.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis TN.
