Alton Anthony Rock Jr., 75, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in Slidell.

Alton was born on July 21, 1949, in Morgan City, Louisiana, to Alton and Doris Rock. After attending Nicholls State University, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his service in Vietnam. In 1969, he married Cheryl Duhon in Amelia, Louisiana. The couple moved to Slidell in 1978, and in 1991, they purchased Artistic Florist in Slidell. Alton became actively involved in the local business community, joining the Northshore Rotary Club and the Slidell Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President in the 1993.

After retiring, Alton became a passionate advocate for Armed Forces Veterans. He held memberships in the American Legion, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also served as the immediate past Treasurer of the Louisiana VVA State Council and as President of the Louisiana Vietnam Veterans Assistance Foundation. Additionally, he was a past Commander of the Louisiana Military Order of the Purple Heart and was dedicated to advocating for veterans' rights.

Alton was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cheryl Duhon Rock; two children, Bryan Rock, and Robin Herdliska (George); four grandchildren, Zachary Rock, Riley Huebner (Zach), Abby Herdliska, and Beau Herdliska; brothers, Robert Rock, and Barry Rock; sisters, Janet Stewart, and Brenda Holeman; and numerous other relatives.

A service and internment will be held at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery on April 11, 2025, at 11AM.
