Alvin Fredrick Loyacano, age 79, of Alexandria, LA passed away at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, August 28, 2022. He has now finally been healed and made whole again.
Alvin met his beloved Susan Bosak Loyacano by chance at a Florida beach, and, after a short courtship, they were blessed with 52 years of marriage together. He was loving father to Melissa L. Wilson (Peter John), Melanie L. Cashen (Steve), Melinda L. Milton (Monroe) and Matthew Loyacano (Courtney); brother to Harold A. Loyacano, Jr., Michelle L. Hover, Alicia L. Jewell, Marshall Loyacano, and Marjorie Loyacano; and grandfather "Grumpsey" to Madison, Kent, Leigh, Blake, Mason, Bennett, Avery, Emery and Julianne.
Alvin was born May 31, 1943, in Slidell, Louisiana, and is proceeded in death by his parents Harold A. Loyacano, Sr. and Marjorie Sevin Loyacano. Alvin graduated from Louisiana State University with a master's in animal science. He spent a lifelong career that he loved performing beef cattle research as a Louisiana State University (LSU) animal science professor at Dean Lee Research Station in Alexandria, LA. He was an active member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, Knights of Columbus and the Exchange Club. Alvin's favorite pastimes were coon hunting, raising cattle, beach vacations, and enjoying his grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Genevieve Catholic Church followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell, LA on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
