Obituary

Barbara (Bobbie) Jablonski Alexander, 75, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Jeannette Jablonski, brothers Stephen and Ted Jablonski, and sister-in-law Elaine Jablonski.  She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Terryl (Tony) Hicks of Franklinton, Beth (Neil) Galyon of Slidell, grandsons Jonathan and Matthew Hicks of Franklinton and James Galyon of Slidell, and former husband Jerry Alexander.

Bobbie was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 26, 1946, and although she lived in New York, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama and  Louisiana, she always considered herself a New Yorker at heart. A 1967 journalism graduate of Texas Woman's University, Bobbie worked as a newspaper reporter and editor (including Lifestyle Editor for the Slidell Sentry News), magazine editor, public relations advisor, real estate agent, saleswoman, office manager, marketing director, and book editor.  In 1987, she was named St. Tammany Parish's Realtor of the Year.  She was active in her communities, serving as president of several organizations, including the Kingsport (Tennessee) Jaycees, Gamma Kappa chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Slidell Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the PTAs of four Slidell schools: Slidell Junior High, Slidell High, Boyet Junior High and Northshore High. She served the city of Slidell as chairman of the 1986 Slidell Priority Convention under mayor Sam Caruso, and was a member of several local political campaign staffs.

In accordance with her wishes, Bobbie's friends and family are invited to gather together for a visitation/memorial between noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4 at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, La.
