Barbara Jopes Garrett, 90, a native and lifelong resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023, in Slidell.

Barbara was born October 5, 1932, in Slidell, to Joseph Harry Jopes and Perreer Ann Hover Jopes. Barbara was an employee of the City of Slidell for over 21 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Slidell.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Max Garrett Jr.; her parents, Joseph Harry Jopes and Perreer Hover Jopes; brother, Jefferson Harry Jopes. sisters, Dorothy Mae Miller, and Elaine P. Cox.

She is survived by two children, Max Garrett III, Deborah Garrett Countiss (Bert); three grandchildren, Misty Garrett Fingar (Aaron), Deborah Kay Countiss, Albert Paterson Countiss Jr. and two great-grandchildren, Ellyson Elaine Fingar and Max William Fingar.
