Aggers
Jul 27, 1949 — Mar 24, 2022
Slidell
Bernard L. Aggers, of Slidell, LA, passed away on March 24, 2022. He was born on July 27, 1949 to Arlie E. Eggers of North Carolina and Opal Compton Elliott of Grundy, VA.
Bernard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vickey Sterling Aggers and his two daughters, Frances Anice Hughes (James) and Margaret A. Jones (A.J.). He was brother of the late Barbara Crawford of Carrier, MS. He is survived by his siblings, Bambi Shrum, Mike Eggers (Debbie), Kenny Eggers (Darlene), Sylvia Lineberry, Frances Eggers, and Brenda Eggers. Bernard is also survived by two grandchildren, Seth Hughes (Amber) and Victoria Brunet; two great-grandchildren, Briella Kohles and Clary Kohles; as well as a host of friends, nieces, and nephews.
The two most important things in Bernard's life was God and his family. He was a former welder in the Maritime industry. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also had a love for trains and Chinese food. He wasn't just a father and grandfather to his own, but to others as well. He was also a big fan and lover of the New Orleans Saints.
He had a strong faith in God and sang in the choir. Bernard was a member of The Crossing Church in Pearl River, LA. He was saved and baptized at the age of 21. He praised God everyday until he took his last breath. He loved gospel music, especially Elvis' gospel music. He had the nickname Cowboy because of his love for western movies and television shows as well as his western style, as he always wore his cowboy boots and hat.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Notre Dame Hospice for their care and compassion.
