Beth Hickman Royer passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022, in Slidell after a lengthy illness, which she endured with much grace.  Born on October 18th, 1954, to Dana Hickman and Tessie Prentice Hickman in Lake Charles, Louisiana, she was 67 years old.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, David Royer, and sons Adam Royer of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Mark Royer of Elk, California; daughter by marriage Shelbi Royer of Lafayette, LA; grandchildren:  Luke Royer and Will Royer of Fort Wayne, IN and Hutson Royer and Harper Royer of Lafayette, LA.  Sisters in law Connie Brindle of Alexandria, VA and Debbie Morris (Doug) of Houston, TX; nieces Abby Favre and Macy Satterwhite of Houston, TX; nephew Maxwell Brindle of Richmond, VA and two great nieces and one great nephew.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Royer graduated from Lake Charles High School, in 1972, where she was a drummer in the Kilties and the University of New Orleans majoring in secretarial science.  She put her husband through college working as the private secretary to the Environmental Planner for the State of Louisiana in downtown New Orleans.

When asked what she did, she would reply: "I am a mother first." For years she was a stay at home mom and "professional volunteer."  She was very active and orchestrated many activities in public schools, as well as civic, church, environmental, and political organizations.  She was an amazing caterer and catered many events for politicians, church, and close friends.  While her sons were in college she worked as a receptionist in the 22nd Judicial District Court.  Next to being a mom, her favorite job was that of Wedding Director.  She mostly worked the New Orleans area but was in demand as far away as Denver, Colorado.  She served for years on the Slidell Memorial Hospital Appointing Authority Board, was a member of the United Methodist Church all her life and taught Sunday School for 18 years.  She was ever mindful of the needs of others and would help anyone with their children by babysitting.  She was also a past member and officer of the Slidell Republican Women's Club and avid gardener.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA, with visitation beginning at 9:00am, and the memorial service beginning at 11:00am.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The National World War II Museum in New Orleans in Beth's memory (www.nationalww2museum.org; under "Ways to Give" select "General Donation" then at the top of the next page choose "Tribute Gift").
