Billie Mae Pittman, 87, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Slidell.

Billie Mae was born May 16, 1936, in Montrose, Louisiana.

In 1954 she graduated from Slidell High School and in 1959 she graduated from Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, Louisiana, and in the same year, married Bobby Pittman in Slidell.

She retired from the St. Tammany Parish School System after teaching for over 30 years. She was recognized for Teacher of the Year in St. Tammany Parish. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a women's education organization. She was an active member of The Guardians of Slidell History for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Bobby Pittman; her parents, A.B. and Lois Plauche.

She is survived by four children, Anita Powell (Warren), Jennifer Pittman Lea, Patricia Pittman, Charles Pittman (Holly); two sisters Melanie Edwards and Joanne Vanhook, two brothers William Vanhook and Walter Vanhook. Eight grandchildren, Cody Powell, Justin Powell, Brendon Lea, Caitlyn Powell, Jordan Thigpen, Corey Pittman, Harleigh Pittman, Charlie Pittman; thirteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Memorial Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA 70460 on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the funeral service at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
