Billie Louise "Boo" Sturrock, (née Oldham), 92, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away, on May 31st, at home.

Billie Louise Oldham was born in Abilene, Texas, on October 9, 1933, to William and Louise Oldham. From an early age, Billie was known to her family and friends simply as "Boo," a nickname that remained with her throughout her life.

Boo was an excellent student and graduated as salutatorian of her high school class. After graduation, she moved to Kansas, where she worked for a national railroad company. While living there, she met Alex Sturrock, who was stationed in Kansas with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Their relationship blossomed, Boo and Alex were soon married in Dallas, Texas, on November 1, 1952.

After Alex was honorably discharged from the Air Force, the couple moved to Denver, Colorado, where he graduated from the University of Denver. Alex then began a lifelong career as a physicist for the federal government, with a specialty in hydrology. Boo and Alex soon welcomed two children to the world, a son Sandy in 1959 and a daughter Stacie in 1960. Alex's work took he and the family around to several different places over the years. In the mid-1960s, they moved to Southern California for a two-year government project before returning to Colorado in 1968, where Boo began to paint, developing a life-long love for artistic expression.

In 1972, the family was transferred to Louisiana amid the opening of the Stennis Space Center. The move allowed Boo to return to her Southern roots and begin a new chapter of her life in the community of Slidell, which she loved. While living in Slidell, Boo developed a deep passion for tennis, a sport Alex had played collegiately. There, she became one of the founding members of the Slidell Tennis Association, an organization that continues to thrive today. Boo's involvement reflected both her competitive spirit and her ability to build lasting friendships through the activities she loved.

After Alex's passing in 1994, Boo devoted herself more seriously to mah-jongg and bridge, becoming an enthusiastic duplicate bridge player. Boo also treasured her yearly visits to Gulf Shores, where she enjoyed playing dominoes and spending time with her family. Her granddaughter Alexis fondly remembers Boo paying her to read aloud, a family memory that captured both Boo's humor and her appreciation for a good story. Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other family gatherings provided many more cherished memories that will remain with those who loved her.

Boo was tragically preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alex Sturrock and her daughter Stacie Sturrock Walker.

She is survived by her son, Sandy Sturrock of Cumming, Georgia; her granddaughter, Alexis Estes, and her husband, Alex; her great-grandsons, Archer and Avery Estes, also of Cumming; her son-in-law Rusty Walker of New Orleans, Louisiana, and many other relatives and friends who mourn her passing and will forever cherish the memory of her loving and kind soul.

Along the way, Boo made many close friends and connections through tennis, bridge, art, and the Slidell community. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, independence, competitiveness, creativity, and dedication to her family. Her life touched many people, and her memory will live on through her family and friendships.

Visitation will take place at Honaker Funeral Home on July 24th at 2:00 PM- followed by a gathering to remember at the Sturrock home, 223 Loop Drive, Slidell, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the National Association for Alzheimer's in honor of Billie Louise Sturrock.
