Bruce Wayne Weathers, 66, of Pearl River, Louisiana, left his earthly life, Tuesday August 15, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Bruce was born in Columbus, Ohio, August 3, 1957, but was a near life-long resident of Pearl River, Louisiana.  It was in Pearl River that he would meet and marry his baby-cakes, Jayne Troxler Weathers, and raise 3 amazing daughters:  Kathryn McEwen (Jim), Jessica Wiley (Charlie), and Lacey Weathers.  Several years later, two of his greatest gifts would also be born, his two granddaughters.  Bruce was affectionately known as Baw Baw to Haleigh Wallace (Saige) and Aubrie Wiley.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Louise Weathers, and is survived by his sisters Cindy Haggenmaker and Judy Burtt (Neil).  He was also brother-in-law and uncle to many other relatives in our large family.

Bruce was a railroad machinist for over 35 years (L&N, CSX).  During that time, he was also a volunteer fireman at the 7th district fire department having spent many of those years serving as fire Chief.  During those tenures, he made life-long friends who continued to be a source of support to the end.  The railroad was his vocation, but the fire department was his calling.  Outside of work, Bruce had many other hobbies such as collecting every craftsman tool to ever exist, taking things apart and putting them back together, watching NASCAR, complaining about the Saints, and teaching us all the right way to do things (aka his way!).

Family was also important to Bruce. While his fight with cancer was short and hard-fought, our family was able to spend precious, valuable time with him which we will all cherish for the rest of our lives.

We are thankful to all the many people who assisted in this journey.  It is true that it takes a village at times and we were supported by an amazing village of friends, family, and professionals.  A special thank you to St. Tammany Parish Hospice, St. Tammany Parish Hospital, and Mary Byrd Perkins Cancer Center for all those efforts, support, and kindness.

Our family would love for you to join us as we remember and celebrate Bruce's life and legacy.  Visitation and Memorial Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell LA on Saturday, September 2, 2023, from 9:00 A.M. till 12:00 P.M.

Visitation will be followed by a procession to a celebration of life event at St. Tammany District 7 Recreational Community Center in Pearl River.

Bruce's final request was to take one last ride in a fire truck, which he will do during the procession to his celebration of life event.  We believe he would be thrilled to know his request is honored and would love for as many friends and family as possible to join us in his personal parade to celebrate him. Again, we are eternally grateful to everyone involved who has worked hard to make this happen.  It is a testament to his many years of service and many years of friendship within his community.
