Capt. Robert 'Butch' Harry Jacobs, Jr., Slidell Police Dept., MGySgt., U.S.M.C., Retired,  age 76 years, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Beloved husband of Triche Vosbein Jacobs. Father of Melissa "Kris" Jacobs Dueñez (Brandi Bretey). Stepfather of John August Huye IV. Son of the late Robert H. Jacobs, Sr. and Hilda Davis Jacobs. Brother of Patrecia Stockstill, the late Mertie Ladner, Carleen Meza and Darleen Jacobs. Also survived by one grandson, Christopher "Cade" Dueñez (Monserrat Dueñez).

Robert "Butch" Jacobs Jr. was born May 31, 1946 in Cooperstown, N.Y. Shortly thereafter, he moved to New Orleans with his family. His family then moved to reside in St. Tammany Parish. Upon graduating from Covington high school, he joined the Navy and served his tour until 1969. He attended LSU and graduated from Southeastern University with a degree in Sociology in 1974. From 1969 – 2006 he served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, where he retired after 30 years as a Master Gunnery Sargent. While serving in the Marine Corps Reserve, he was activated for 6 years. He served in Desert Storm from 1990-1991. During this time he was tagged as "a Sgt. York" type hero for almost singlehandedly capturing 238 Iraqi Soldiers near the Saudi Kuwait border on February 23 ^rd , 1991 as noted from the Daily Century News in 1991. He served in Operation Enduring Freedom from 2001-2004. Between July 2004 – March 2006 he served as Intelligence Chief, 4 ^th Marine Aircraft Wing. He became a police officer with the Slidell Police Department in 1975 and retired after 36 years, as a Captain. During his career with Slidell Police Department, he embraced many facets of the Slidell P.D. Among the many, one was introducing D.A.R.E to schools within the community. In the midst of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, per the request of the Chief of Staff, along with the Marine Forces Reserve, MGySgt. Jacobs would prove instrumental in facilitating a synergy between not only the above listed, but to include New Orleans Area Civil Authorities and Federal Government agencies.

He was a member of the Slidell Jaycees, a longstanding member of American Legion Post 374, a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a passionate golfer.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the  Memorial Mass at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA., o n Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will be held at 9:00am.

Inurnment, with Military Honors at 1:30 p.m., in Biloxi National Cemetery.
