Obituary

Catherine Serio Frederick Lambert, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in Lafayette, La. and is now resting comfortably in the arms of our Heavenly Father.

Catherine was born in New Orleans, La on August 19, 1932, to the late Anthony Francis and Ethel May Hedges Serio. She was the widow of Andrew Lambert and Bruce Anthony Frederick.

She felt very blessed to be a stepmother to Suzanne Renckly (Hans), Mark Frederick, Terri Hill (Steven), Richard Frederick (Gwen), Priscilla Carithers, & Jonathan Frederick, Sr. and she loved them all dearly.

Catherine is survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, her sister, Patricia Serio Matthews & a host of nieces & nephews.

Catherine is preceded in death by her five sisters, Mary Gean Anderson, Cora Lee Babineaux, Ethel Mc Credie, Grace Legros, Anna Wilcox; her three brothers Francis Serio, Anthony Serio & Alfred Serio.

Catherine loved being from such a large family & would want everyone to remember that she was always her mother's favorite!

Catherine retired from South Central Bell as a supervisor on June 30, 1984, with 32 years of service! Following her retirement, she worked at D.H. Homes Last Resort & volunteered at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

She loved her church family at Sts. Peter & Paul in Pearl River, La. and spent many hours volunteering & coordinating events.  She served as a member of the Ladies Alter Society, Martha's Helpers, St. Joseph's Alter Society, the Women's Spirituality Group, the Tuesday Morning Rosary Prayer Group and was a leader for the Prayer Chain.   She was well known for baking her chocolate chip cookies & spreading her love all over the community with her special sweet treats.

For her exemplary volunteer work at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Pearl River, she was presented the Order of St Louis Medal by the Archbishop at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. She was also a member of the Bellsouth Pioneers Club.

Pallbearers will be Richard Frederick, Steven Hill, Christopher Pellerin, Robert Matthews, Aaron Gunalda, Bret Frederick, and Jace Marter.

In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.

The family wishes to thank the loving staff at the Vincent in Lafayette, La. for their compassionate care & kindness.  Special loving thanks to Shante, Sam, Nicole, Dominique, Kee, Destiny & Alozia for loving her like family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. with the rosary beginning at 6:30 pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 66192 St. Mary Drive, in Pearl River, Louisiana.

Visitation will resume on Saturday, June 22, 2024, beginning at 9:00am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell, La.
