Charles "Chuck" William Holton, a longtime resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on October 3, 2024, at his home in Slidell.  He was born in Astoria, Oregon on February 5, 1952, to Jack and Barbara "Bobbie" Holton.

Chuck worked at the family business, Holton Marine, until he enlisted in the United States Navy. Chuck's mother, Bobbie, was known as the "Corny Joke Queen", which would crown Chuck as the "Corny Joke Prince." When he made his Sunday calls to his mother, Aunt Kaye, and Aunt Margie, he always had a joke to tell them.

In 1988, Chuck's life changed forever when he met the love of his life, Dr. Elizabeth "Holly" Broom. From the day he met Holly, he made it his mission to make sure she laughed every day, though he settled for the occasional eye roll. Chuck and Holly fulfilled their dream of traveling to Scotland; they spent two weeks touring the countryside and sampling the local flavors. Chuck and Holly looked forward to football season because they would host their "Saints Football Parties" for friends and family.

Chuck was very proud of his service to our country. He was also proud that his father, Jack Holton, (Navy) served in the Navy during the Korean War, his father-in-law, John Broom, (Army Air Corps) who served in WWII, his son, Tony Holton, (Army) who served in Iraqi Conflict, and his grandson, Carter Holton, (Army) and his son-in–law, Raymond Nicholson, (Navy) who are currently serving our country.

Chuck was an avid fisherman. Some of his fondest memories were of the times he spent on the water with his family, and some of the children's fondest memories are of watching him attempt to get his boat out of the water; he never found it as funny as they did. If you couldn't find Chuck on the porch, he was most likely in his office tapping away on his computer, riding his tractor, or buying something on Amazon. There wasn't a tool or new gadget that Chuck didn't love; his collection of gnomes is pretty outstanding.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Dr. Elizabeth "Holly" Broom. Chuck was the proud father of two children, Jennifer Nicholson (Raymond) and Charles "Tony" Holton (Jenifer), and two stepchildren, Wesley Boudreaux (Jillian) and Darce' Byrd (Chris). Chuck was lovingly known as "Pop-Pop" and "Grandpa Squirrel" to his grandchildren: Nivek Nicholson, MacKenzie Nicholson, Zoe Nicholson, Haliegh Beene, Andrew Crane, Carter Holton, Emily Holton, Anne Boudreaux, Britnie Byrd, and Lina Byrd. He is also survived by two sisters, Cherri Hopkins (James), Donna Meadows (Clayton); and a brother, Glen "Rick" Holton (Pat). He also loved his many nieces and nephews. The grandchildren will miss watching the latest animated movie with Pop-Pop and laughing at him while he acted like a pirate-argh!

All friends and family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at First United Methodist Church of Slidell, 433 Erlanger Ave, Slidell, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in the Sanctuary. Visitation will begin at 10:00am with the Memorial Service at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
