Charles "Chuck" Weckwerth

Charles “Chuck” Weckwerth, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on September 13, 2026. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 21, 1947, and then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1954. He resided in Pearl River, Louisiana for the past 42 years.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Susanne Chetta Weckwerth, his two daughters, Stacy W. Ryals (Jeff) and Stefini W. Salles (David); his grandchildren, Claire E. Rouen, Victoria R. Wight (Sean), Dominick L. Rouen, Shelby E. Salles, Sydney E. Salles, D. Christoper Salles, III; his great grandchildren, Luna M. Wight, Sean M. Wight, and Emersyn G. Wight; and his brother Timothy J. Weckwerth (Nancy).

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl A. Weckwerth, his mother, Virginia P. Weckwerth, and his brother, Thomas A. Weckwerth.

Chuck graduated from Nichols High School in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1965. He attended University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana and was then drafted into the U.S. Army in June of 1967. From November 1967 to January1969, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 31st Artillery, 7th Infantry Division, stationed at Camp Casey, South Korea. He was deeply proud of his military service, which remained an important part of his life and legacy.

Chuck had a larger-than-life personality and made every gathering more memorable. He was quite the character, he loved telling stories, sharing jokes, and bringing laughter to those around him.

A devoted LSU fan, Chuck faithfully followed LSU sports and especially loved cheering on the Tiger football team. An avid tailgater, he rarely missed an LSU home football game and enjoyed tailgating with family and friends.

He also had a passion for travel, with Italy holding a special place in his heart. Chuck also enjoyed camping in his RV with his wife and longtime friends.

Above all, Chuck’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband who loved his wife deeply and wholeheartedly. He cherished his daughters and took tremendous pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments as if they were his own. Nothing meant more to him than spending time with the people he loved.

Chuck will be remembered for his unforgettable personality, his humor and stories, his loyalty to LSU, his adventurous spirit, and his deep devotion to family and friends. His presence filled every room, and the laughter, love, and memories he gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 66192 St. Mary Drive, Pearl River, LA 70452, on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 1:00 P.M.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. immediately followed by a Rosary prayer service from 12:20 P.M. until funeral time.
