Cynthia "Cindy" Durella Hueschen Latapie, of Slidell, LA, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, at the age of 86, with her children and caregiver, Liz Matthis by her side. She was born in New Orleans, LA on November 14, 1937, to her loving parents, the late Ernest C. Hueschen, and Jeanne Couget Hueschen.
Cynthia was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Ronald Stanford Latapie, her sisters Sylvia Hueschen and Cheryl Hueschen Borne, her granddaughter Shelby Lynn Wilson, and her son-in-law Michael Tedesco.
Cynthia was the cherished mother of Rhonda Latapie Tedesco (Mike), Jeanne Latapie Moroney (Mickey), Laura Latapie Kaufmann (Dave), Lisa Latapie Smith (Ken) and Ronald August Latapie (Leah); adored grandmother of Jennifer Roser (Paul), David Kaufmann (Charee'), Lauren Navarre (Jason), Michael Tedesco (Chelsea), Mark Moroney (Elizabeth), Matthew Moroney (Kodi), Cody Wilson, Maggie Moroney, Brittany Marchant (Bradley), Ronnie Latapie (December), Marissa Oster, Kadieanna Wilson, Allie Oster, and Logan Smith. She was the great grandmother of August Stritzinger and Bryce Roser; Mason, Marshal, and Raegan Kaufmann; Dyllan and Jocelyn Navarre; Tate Tedesco; Brennan and Walker Moroney; Levi and Mally Moroney; Avery and Briar Marchant; and Emma and Carter Wilson.
Cynthia was the proud sister of Charlene H. Dugas (Jerry), Christopher D. Hueschen (Barbara), the late Cheryl H. Borne (Ronnie) and Carl E. Hueschen (Janice). Sister-in-law of the late August and Irma Latapie and Ethel Latapie Thiel and the late Malcolm Thiel. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who she loved dearly.
Cynthia met the love of her life, Ronnie at a sock hop when they were teenagers. They were married a couple of years later, went on to raise their five children on Dodt Ave., and later moved to Sherwood Dr. in East New Orleans, LA.
Cynthia loved to be the hostess to a great time, from the weekly card games with her mother, brothers, and sisters to the annual New Years Eve parties. There was always plenty of food, spirits, music, and dancing to enjoy. Her hobbies, which she shared with her husband, children, and siblings, were fishing, bowling, golfing, and casino-hopping. In Cynthia's retirement years, she enjoyed coloring and making puzzles.
The family would like to thank the staff of Greenbrier Nursing Home and Notre Dame Hospice for the excellent care she received over the past two years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of her life with a Funeral Mass, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 400 Westchester Pl., Slidell, LA., on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 11:00 A.M.
Visitation at the church on Tuesday after 10:00 A.M. until service time.
