Darrel Micheal Woods, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, in New Orleans, after a prolonged illness.

Darrel, the beloved son of Reverand Cleveland Woods, Sr., and Doris Rosemond Woods, was born January 17, 1959, in New Orleans, and was baptized at an early age by his father, the Pastor of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Darrel attended Francis T. Nicholls High School.

Darrel served in the United States Navy as a Hospitalman (E3).  He was trained at the Naval Hospital Corps School as an Ocular Technician and was assigned to the Naval Medical Clinic.

Darrel is survived by his four children, Chamelon (Germaine) McFarlane, Chameka Pichon, Dana Woods-Short, Luka McIntyre; eleven grandchildren, Taijah McFarlane, Madison McFarlane, Chase McFarlane, Nicholas Pichon, Dallis Pichon, Kayla Chapman, Niya Pichon, Ahmya McCarty, Tyler Rodney, Jay Pierre Woods, Leah Rodney; six brothers Louis (Dianne) Pedescleaux, Ronald (Polly) Rosemond, Cleveland (Sheila) Woods, Jr., Ponce Woods Sr., Boris Woods Sr., Ryan (Rachel), Woods and one sister Wanda (John) Woods-Matthews; aunt, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Darrel was precedented in death by his father Reverand Cleveland Woods, Sr., and sister Iris Woods.

Funeral services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell, Louisiana on Wednesday October 23, 2024.

The Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. with Bishop Van C. Rousell, Sr., Worship Ministries Church of Deliverance officiating.

Darrel's final resting place is Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, LA.
