DeLoyd Williams Sr. was born on July 20, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the son of the late Rev. Medrick Sr. and Rosalie B. Williams. DeLoyd attended Our Lady of Grace High School in Reserve, Louisiana. After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1965 where he served as a Machine Gunner achieving the rank of Sergeant. While serving in Vietnam, he received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat. For his actions performed in Vietnam, he received the Vietnam Campaign Medal Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Service Medal with two Stars, and a Presidential Unit Citation. During his time in the Marine Corps, he also received the National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Expert Marksmanship Badge. After being honorably discharged in 1972, DeLoyd Sr. continued his public service work by accepting a position at the United States Postal Service where he retired as a supervisor in 1998.

While stationed in Quantico, Virginia, DeLoyd Williams Sr. met and was later joined in holy matrimony to his beloved wife, Sharon, on January 27, 1969, and from this union they had two sons, DeLoyd Williams, Jr. and Brandon Williams. He is survived by his son, DeLoyd Williams Jr. and daughter-in-law, Trella. His grandchildren, Briana (Marquis), Brevin, DeLoyd, Jhiya, and great granddaughter Haivyn.

DeLoyd Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, and son, Brandon. His parents, Rev. Medrick Sr. and Rosalie B. Williams. His brothers, Lionel Williams, Gerald Williams, and his sisters, Verna Warren, Aline Zeno, Bernadine Batiste, Rose Francois, and Yvonne Smith. Also, brothers-in-law, Bruce Batiste, and Carroll Coulbourn.

DeLoyd Sr. leaves to affectionately mourn his passing, his siblings, Medrick Williams Jr., Marva (Melvin Jr.) Joseph, Norma Dorris, Marilyn (Samuel Jr.) Warren, Joyce (Michael) Bush, Marlene (Rev. Irvin) Watkins, and Sheryl (Alexis) Pierre. His brothers-in-law Edgar Zeno Jr., Charles Coulbourn, and Jackie (Martha) Coulbourn. His sisters-in-law Estella Hutt and Harriett Coulbourn, and his Godchildren, Annette Claiborne, and Medrick Williams Jr. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who loved him dearly.

DeLoyd Sr. was loved by all who knew him, and all was blessed by his infectious smile, big hugs, and bounty of love. Everyone received a piece of his wisdom and goodwill. DeLoyd Sr. was generous to a fault and family meant everything to him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:00 A.M.

Visitation at the funeral home on Friday after 9:00 A.M. until funeral time.

Interment will follow with Military Honors in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY.
