Dolores Nunez, age 95, a longtime resident of Reggio, Louisiana, and in recent years, Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, in Slidell.  She was born August 31, 1930, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Alex and Daisy Buras Nunez.  In 1946 she married August Nunez, a World War II veteran.

She was preceded in death by her husband, August Nunez; a son, Ashley Nunez; and a sister Murial Nunez.

Dolores is survived by her children, Jody Nunez (Gay), Jackie Nunez, Paula Burnetti (William); brother, Leonard J. Nunez; sisters, Jeannette Nunez, Rosalind Dauzet.  She was the loving grandmother of Angel Kehoe, Martin Kehoe, Jason Smith (Emily), Damien Nunez, Jeremy Nunez (Shanna), Erica Wolfe, Justin Nunez, and Marissa Tinney (Austin); she is also survived by her great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Dolores was a longtime teacher's assistant in St. Bernard Parish and remained active with former students and fellow teachers.

Funeral Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA 70460, on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Visitation will begin at 9:30am, followed by the funeral service at 11:30am.

Burial will be in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.
