At 6:15 AM Saturday morning, January 21 of 2023, surrounded by her family, Doris Mae Rancatore Hickman went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We will celebrate her 89 years on this earth, but we will "not mourn as those who have no hope", but instead live for Christ daily in her name, awaiting the glorious day when we will see her again in Heaven. We are who we are because of her.

She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on May 17, 1933 to the late Frank Rancatore and Ethel Nehlig. Sister of Mary Wortmann (Harold), Ethel Gills and Frank Felix Rancatore, Jr. (Agnes). A devoted and beloved wife, she was married to the love of her life, Charles W. Hickman Sr., to whom she was married for 73 years. She was the cherished mother of Charles W. Hickman, Jr. (Kerry), Charleen H. Zimmer (Craig), and Susan H. Quinn (Chris), proud grandmother of Charles Hickman, lll (Allison), Darren Hickman (Ashley), Christine Z. Guilbeau (Justin), Courtney Z. Schloegel, Jessica Q. McCadam (Kevin), Christopher Quinn (Lauren), Bree Q. Spielfogel (Lucas "Rufus"), Jennifer Gills Segrave and the late Jeffrey Hickman and Craig Zimmer, Jr, great-grandmother of Sydney and Shelby Hickman; June, Macy and Jeffrey Hickman; Laynie and Grant Guilbeau; Carson, Nolan and Gracie Schloegel; Mia, Kole, Mason and Kam McCadam; Charles, Lydia and Colette Quinn; Quinn Spielfogel; and Koryn and Kraig Segrave; beloved aunt to Cindy Gills and Alton (Cindy) and Pete Wortmann, Jr. (Gloria), Pete Wortman, lll (Alisha) and Adam Wortmann (Trevor).

More lovingly referred to as "Dot", there was nothing more important to her than her husband and the family they built together. As she remained their constant heartbeat and matriarch, she diligently raised their three wonderful children as she supported her husband during his time in the U.S. Navy, at American Standard and during his time with the New Orleans Recreation Department. She was considered "a second Mom" to so many at Digby Playground. You could always see her friendly face behind the counter at Zimmer's Seafood, working alongside her oldest daughter. But if you asked her now, she would say undoubtedly that their grandchildren and great grandchildren were their greatest pride and joy. She was truly the most amazing Wife, Mother, Maw Maw and Great Maw Maw. Her smile lit up a room like no other, and she always made people feel welcomed and loved. She was truly one of a kind.

Family and Friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, January 25th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, located at 1751 Gause Blvd. West., Slidell, Louisiana 70460. Prayer service to begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
