Dorothy Paul Heck, 93, a longtime resident of Luling, Louisiana and a 12 year resident of Summerfield Retirement Community in Slidell, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2022, in Slidell. She enjoyed her friends and staff at Summerfield.
Dorothy was born in 1928, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Max Paul and Flossie Mae Young Paul. In 1947, she married Freeman Heck, Jr., in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1948, the couple moved to New Orleans, and then to Luling in 1956 after Freeman completed dental School. She became the bookkeeper and receptionist for her husband's dental practice for 40 years. She was a longtime active member of Luling United Methodist Church. She and Freeman were married 57 years and enjoyed traveling and going out for dinner with family and friends, volunteering at church, gardening, going to garage sales, and hunting for golf balls. She was very concerned about patients', neighbors', and friends' health. She loved dogs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Freeman Heck Jr.; two children, Phyllis Heck, and Freeman J. Heck III.
Mrs. Heck is survived by two children, Cheryl Petty (David), Beverly Taylor; six grandchildren, Rachel Bolling, Robin Wedl, David Petty Jr., Erin Campbell, Adam Taylor, Jeremy Heck; eleven great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Jack Heck.
