Douglas John Milburn, age 61, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away at home on Saturday, July 19, 2025.  He will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by his presence in their lives.

Doug was born on September 4, 1963 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to William Calvin Milburn and Mary Joan Tenhundfeld Milburn. Doug's early years were marked by a unique and worldly upbringing, having spent his childhood living in Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Iran, Virginia, and Rhode Island before settling in Pascagoula Mississippi in 1974.

From an early age, Doug's precocious nature was obvious. Doug would often speak in an English accent and declare himself an "English Chap." One of the many cherished stories from that time was of three-year-old Doug charming the doorman at the Tehran Hilton with his self-taught English accent – an early sign of his engaging personality, love of conversation, and keen sense of humor.

Doug was a graduate of Pascagoula High School (1981) and earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi (1985). Doug was the proud owner of J Hugh Knight Instrument Company in Slidell, Louisiana where he poured his passion and dedication into his work for many years. As an avid outdoorsman, Doug loved to spend time hunting, fishing, and especially tending to his garden. He took great joy in growing seasonal vegetables in his backyard, often sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends, and neighbors. Doug was affectionately known by many as "Doug", "Pud" and "Mouth of the South" for his infectious demeanor. Doug will be missed beyond measure by all who knew him. His humor, his warmth, and his larger-than-life personality made every room brighter and every gathering more memorable.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Calvin Milburn and Mary Joan Tenhundfeld Milburn, sister Mary Milburn, nephew Robert Patrick Modica and Brothers-in-law Robert Michael Modica and Kenneth Wear, Jr.

Doug is survived by his love and best friend Katie Ashley and children James (Cara) Ashley and Krystal Griffin; his siblings William Craig Milburn, Linda (Brad) Smith, Susanne Modica, Stephanie (Roger) Dickinson and Marcia Wear; his grandchildren David Smith, Savannah Ashley, Vivian Ashley, Khloee Griffin, Jack Ashley, Bryce Griffin, Charlotte Ashley and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11:00am until 3:00pm, at 1206 Doverville Ct, Slidell LA 70461.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
