Edrel Lacoste Pichon peacefully passed away in her home of 68 years Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Paul Pichon, her parents, Annie Macie Lacoste and Earl Joseph Lacoste, and her siblings, EJ Lacoste (Elaine), Barry Lacoste (Shirley), and Shirley Delaughter (Kent.) She is survived by her children, John Pichon (Christine), Celeste Montz (Jeff), and Richard Pichon (Jeanne.) She was a loving grandmother to Kenneth Pichon, Jennifer Pichon, Cameron Guernsey, Matthew Guernsey, Anthony Guernsey, Megan Montz, Christian Montz, Jacob Pichon, and Joshua Pichon. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Benjamin Pichon and Sophie Pichon. She adored her grandchildren and loved every minute she spent with them.
Edrel was born on November 19,1935 in Pearl River, Louisiana. After graduation from Slidell High School in 1953, she worked at Stanley's TV Shop, where she met her husband, Kenneth. The time they had together was brief but filled with happiness. After Kenneth's death in 1968, Edrel devoted herself to raising their three children. In 1981, she started her career working as a paraprofessional and then a school secretary for more than 20 years at Carolyn Park Elementary and Bayou Woods Elementary. She loved her job, touching many lives, and making lifelong friends while working at these schools. Edrel had a way of looking out for the downcast and anyone who needed help. Throughout her life, she never hesitated to help others. She led a faith-filled life with special devotions to St. Anthony and St. Padre Pio. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Services will be held Thursday, April 11,2024 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 58203 LA Hwy. 433 (Bayou Liberty Road), Slidell, LA. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:00, with Mass starting at 11:00. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Edrel may be made to St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457.
