Edwin Lyle Kopfler, Jr., DDS, APDC, age 77, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Beloved husband of Madeleine Baldwin Kopfler. Father of Jeanine Kopfler Boykin (Mark) and Christopher Andrew Kopfler (Tonya). Son of the late Edwin Lyle Kopfler, Sr. and Blanche Simmons Kopfler. Brother of Lynn Kopfler LeBlanc, Dean Elizabeth Kopfler and Joseph Gottlieb Kopfler. Also survived by his grandchildren, Richard Blake Boykin (Tasha), Matthew Austin Boykin and Madeleine Claudia Boykin.

Dr. Kopfler was a 1969 graduate of Loyola School of Dentistry, New Orleans. He served in the U.S. Army as a Dentist and opened his office in Slidell in 1971. He was a member of the American Dental Association and the Louisiana Dental Association.  Dr. Kopfler received his Fellowship award from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1978. In July of 1999, Dr. Kopfler received the prestigious Mastership Award. To date, more than 11,000 members of the Academy of General Dentistry have become Fellows and approximately 1,000 have gone on to receive their Mastership. At this time there are very few Masters practicing in Louisiana, and in fact, only 2% of our nations dentists have earned this distinction. He was also a member and past President of the Slidell Rotary Noon Club, a parishioner and usher at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church and numerous civic organizations, both local and statewide. Dr. Kopfler was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 58203 Hwy 433, Slidell, LA., on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 11:00 A.M.

Interment, with military honors will follow at 12:30 p.m., at the Southeast La. Veterans Cemetery, 38888 Grantham College Road, Slidell, La. 70460.

Visitation at the church on Monday after 9:00 A.M. until funeral time.

Donations to the American Heart Association or St. Genevieve Catholic Church, preferred, in lieu of flowers.
