Elaine Lanclos Johnson, lovingly known as "Maw Maw'," passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 88. Born on December 3, 1937, in Leonville, Louisiana, she was a longtime resident of Mandeville and Slidell, Louisiana.
Elaine cherished the time she spent with her family, especially during holidays and family gatherings. She found great joy in celebrating Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas traditions, creating memories her family will treasure for generations. She loved cooking and sharing her favorite recipes with others, filling her home with the warmth of home-cooked meals and bringing people together around the table. Elaine also treasured family vacations and especially enjoyed taking her family to Disney World, where she created countless special memories filled with love, laughter, and togetherness.
Elaine was a devoted Catholic whose faith was the foundation of her life. She instilled her faith in her children and grandchildren, leaving them with a lasting spiritual legacy. She was also known for her warm and welcoming personality, never meeting a stranger. Elaine spent many years as a beautician and developed a devoted following of customers who appreciated not only her talents but also the genuine care and friendship she shared with them. Later in life, she became a waitress, a career that allowed her to continue doing what she loved most interacting with people and making connections with everyone she met.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph B. Johnson, Jr., and her parents, Danie and Marie Lanclos.
She is survived by her three children: Danie Huff and his wife, Gay Huff; Rudolph B. Johnson III and his wife, Sunny Johnson; and Jason Johnson and his wife, Angela Johnson.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Dana Huff; Danie Huff, Jr.; Alivia Johnson and her fiancé, Austin Barrios; Jason Johnson, Jr.; Caroline Johnson and her fiancé, Luke Langlinais; Patrick Johnson; and Steven Johnson. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Adam Hatcher, Cayden Clark, and Avena Ledet.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the caregivers at Notre Dame Hospice, Trinity Trace Community Care Center, and Azalea Assisted Living Facility.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448, on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Requiem Mass at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Special Intention Masses be offered in Elaine's memory.
