Obituary

Eli "Peelou" Pichon, Jr., was born October 22, 1935, to the late Eli Pichon, Sr. and Veronica Lavasseur Pichon in Slidell, LA.

Peelou celebrated 68 years of marriage to Elaine Alexius Pichon of Madisonville, LA. From that union there were four children: Richard M. Pichon (Rose), Denise Pichon DeBlanc, the late Eric Pichon, and Belinda Pichon Bradley (Stefan B.); grandchildren: Grayling DeBlanc, Jr. (Aysun), Jason DeBlanc (Rhiannon), Stefan K. Pichon, the late Alexis Pichon, David DeBlanc, and Eric Pichon (DaJourna). Peelou was one of the greatest Paw Paws ever to his great grandkids: Isiah DeBlanc, Braylen Pichon, and Amari Pichon.

He is preceded in death by both parents, sisters Margie Pichon, Lois Dauphin, Helen Larche, and his brother Roland "Bun-Dah" Pichon.

He is survived by two siblings: Phyllis Dejan and Alvin Pichon, Sr.

Eli "Peelou" Pichon retired from Folgers Coffee Company after 23 years as a production worker. He was admired by all he worked with for his dedication to his job and his willingness to always help others. Most of all, Peelou loved telling jokes while finding humor in everyday life experiences, which kept his quick-witted spirit sharp.

Peelou loved fishing, hunting, and spending time in his garden and sitting on the front porch passing time with his family, relatives, and just about anyone who cared to stop and chat with him. Peelou was not a man of many words until he was with friends who loved speaking 'creole' or anytime he was introduced to anyone 'new,' he would find many more questions for them about their life, parents and family, and any activities that connected them to hunting, fishing, or gardening, Then, Peelou would put your knowledge to the test! For example, his nephews, especially, Merlin 'Bird' Dauphin and Gary Larche, would fall into his competitive trap by trying to see who could out-fish or out-hunt the other! Well, of course, Uncle Peelou believed he was the best at everything!

To sum this up, Eli "Peelou" Pichon was so loved by all of his family, relatives, and friends! He most especially cherished his grandchildren and their families. Many would agree that he was not one who easily expressed his love verbally, but his actions were so amazing. He gave from his heart! He loved and cherished his wife for 68 years and provided all that a wife would hope for from her husband.
