Floyd Laurence Theard Sr., age 95, passed away on May 7, 2026. He was born in New Orleans, LA on October 22, 1930, to the late, Leslie Joseph Theard and Adelle Juliette Pareti Theard Gardache.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Floyd L. Theard Jr., and grandson, Jeremy A. Theard.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Rhoda Songy Theard, and his children; Wendy L. Theard, Cindy T. Plescia, Vicky A. Theard, and Leslie T. Hymel (Terry); his grandchildren, Toni Marie Plescia Ortego (Caleb), and Adam Theard; and one great-grandchild, Baylor Michael Ortego; his twin brother, Lloyd J. Theard.

Floyd was in both The Navy and The Marine Corps Reserve, serving during The Korean War.

He retired from Western Electric Co. as a switchboard repairman. He was a practicing taxidermist, and founder and President of the Sea Horse Scuba Diving Club in the Mid- 50's. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening, as well as poetry and classical music. Floyd was creative, loved to work on projects as well as landscaping. He had a very nice singing voice and entertained at many gatherings. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

A graveside ceremony will be held at a later date.

Interment in The Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemertery.
