Francis "Frank" George Shemack turned the page to his final chapter on Monday, September 23,2024, leaving behind his beloved Kubota, an abundant supply of books that could fill the Library of Alexandria twice, enough firearms to make Charlton Heston blush, and a horde of canned goods prepared for Doomsday.

Francis is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Rose White, who thought of him as her "silver-haired Kenny Rogers fox" and were married for 41 years. He is also survived by his three daughters, which he considered his biggest accomplishments, Krystal Shemack (Christopher Andersen), Kristina Calecas (James Calecas Jr.), and Paula Bitely (Bruce Bitely); his only grandchild, James Calecas III (who he lovingly called "Little Buddy"), brother, John Shemack; mother-in-law, Evenlyn Columbel; and a host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Mary Shemack.

Frank was born October 11, 1946, in Jamaica, Queens, New York to Frank and Isabelle Shemack.  After High School graduation in New York, Frank voluntarily joined the United States Navy where he proudly served during the Vietnam War until 1970.  In 1983 he married Kathleen Rose White, who gave him the nickname "FraaaAAAANK!!!"

Frank liked to hunt but loved animals even more. While no animals were ever harmed on his sojourns into the wild, cans of Spam were never safe in his company. Frank was passionate about collecting and restoring all types of firearms. Being able to bring a gun back to life always brought him great joy. He was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing a good book with others. He enjoyed authors from Tom Clancy to Sherilyn Kenyon; no book was ever safe! He happily helped his daughter Kristina build a working trebuchet for a school project, blasted "The Phantom of the Opera" so his daughter Krystal could sing opera to it, and lectured his daughter Paula on the evils of snakehead fish. One time he "spiced" up Easter by bringing out a mini cannon. Whenever his dimpled smile spread across his face, mischief was sure to follow.

When he wasn't shuffling around the house looking for Spam, Skoal, or a new book, he was sitting in his gunroom, watching anime and enjoying the quiet life him and his wife built.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Visitation at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M.

A committal service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery 34888 Grantham College Rd. Slidell, LA 70460
