It is with great sadness that the family of Fred Thomas Gentry, a native of New Orleans, and a resident of Slidell, announces his passing on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the age of 82. He passed away peacefully with family by his bedside. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Messonnier, sister Edith "Dee Dee" Landry, and nephew Billy Landry. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Kathleen "Ida" Gentry.

Fred is the father of Debra Weed and Tamra Mulla; step-father of Kathy Vitrano and Cheryl Fos and husband, Mark Fos, Sr. He is fondly known as "Paw-Paw" to Jason Bouvier, Trisha Fos, Danielle Blackwell, Mark Fos, Jr., and Mark Patrick Mulla. He will be greatly missed by his six great-grandchildren and his extended family. Fred was also a devoted dog dad.

Fred, "Freddie", was a retiree of Cooper/T. Smith & Son where he spent his career as a proud crane operator on the Mississippi River. He was an avid angler who loved to fly fish and spent much of his free time on his bass boat in Pearl River. When not out on the water, Freddie could be found spending time with his family or fishing buddies, relaxing in his recliner watching sports or old Westerns, camping, bowling, or at his desk tying flies.
