Obituary

Genevieve 'Gen' Janice Faciane Kennedy, 86, of Slidell, Louisiana died peacefully in her sleep on September 17, 2022, in her daughter's home surrounded by family.  She was born on Oct 27, 1935, in Slidell, Louisiana to Edward Faciane and Edna Rabalais Faciane.  Genevieve was greeted joyfully in heaven by her late husband Richard (Bud) Eugene Kennedy, her loving parents, great-granddaughter River Frances Crawford and her brothers and sisters: Russell Faciane, Conrad Faciane, Bruce Faciane, Allen Faciane, Rosemary Faciane Clotworthy, Edward Faciane Jr., Safly(Jack) Faciane, Bernadine Faciane Dawson, Nicholas (Nicky) Faciane, Warren Faciane and Roger Faciane.  Huey Faciane is her sole surviving sibling.

Gen graduated from Slidell high school in 1953 and married Bud, her high school sweetheart.  They were happily married for over 67 years.  She supported Bud while he attended LSU and throughout his career as an Air Force fighter pilot.  She was a devoted homemaker and mother to their six girls.  Genevieve continuously supported Bud's career throughout her lifetime, willingly moving their household and six girls every time Bud received a new assignment. Gen's excitement was in the Arts, and she became an accomplished artist working in various mediums.  She opened her own art studio 'Serendipity' while living in Clovis, New Mexico.  After their retirement to Slidell, she joined various organizations including the St. Genevieve's Altar Society, The Homemakers Club, The Bayou Liberty Garden Club, Mardi Gras Coast Club, and was a Maid for the Krewe of Selene in 1999.

She was passionate about her Catholic faith and raised her girls as Catholics, enrolling them in Catholic schools throughout their lives.  Her life, dedication and love of God lead to Bud's conversion to Catholicism.

Genevieve knew the greatest gift she could give to her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren were her time and love and she gave those gifts abundantly. She is survived by her six daughters and her five sons-in-law: Janice Brenenstall (Mike), Susan Brown (Larry), Debbie Perich (the late Steve), Diane Wallentine (Steve), Jeanne Whitehead (Benny) and Linda Ware (Kent).  She is also survived by 10 cherished grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
