Gerald "Jerry" Ashker Sr., of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully beside his devoted wife and caregiver, who never left his side, on February 5, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on October 7, 1942, in Niagara Falls, New York, Jerry's life was a rich tapestry woven with love, resilience, and the vibrant colors of his Lebanese heritage. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965, carrying the discipline and resilience he gained into every chapter of his life. Following his military service, Jerry built a respected career as a narcotics officer, operations manager in the oil field and explosive expert, and as a jeweler and entrepreneur, while also dedicating time to serving his community and helping the less fortunate. He was known for his skill, dedication, and unwavering commitment to doing things the right way, never sacrificing his beliefs.

Jerry met and married his soulmate, Cindy Carter Ashker, with whom he shared 35 wonderful years of marriage until his passing. Together, they built a life rich in laughter, shared dreams, and an unwavering commitment to family. Their partnership was a true testament to love, friendship, and devotion.

A deeply devoted father, Jerry's legacy lives on through his beloved family: Chuck Ashker (Diana); Blythe and Brandon Ashker; the children of his late son John, Cole and Brianna; David Ashker; Drew and Jonah; Tiffany (Andy) Brindley and Madison; and Darren Ashker (Britni) and their children Ember, Malaya, and Deuce. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Ashker (Kathy) and Cheryl Ashker Catchpole (Ronald). Jerry took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them and celebrating their lives as his greatest accomplishment.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Durkin Ashker; his father, Charles Elias Ashker; his eldest brother, Ronald C. Ashker; and his son, John Richard Ashker.

Above all else, Jerry was a family man. He was kind, honest, and guided by strong integrity. He found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved, often gathered around good food and shared laughter. His resilience and steady presence were a source of comfort and strength to his family and friends.

Jerry will be remembered for his gentle kindness, steadfast character, and the deep love he shared with those around him. As we bid farewell to Jerry, we celebrate a life lived with passion, a heart given freely, and a soul that touched so many. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will continue through the family he cherished so deeply.   Semper Fi.
