Gloria Esther Ortiz, age 98, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ramon Maldonado, her son, Edwin Maldonado Ortiz; daughter, Ramona Adams; and her parents, Vicente Ortiz and Gregoria Serrano Ortiz.

Gloria is survived by her children, Vilma "Bee" Maldonado (Jay Trainor) and Pepito Maldonado; five grandchildren, Ryan Helm, Mosel Helm, Suzie Evans, Lisy Faye, Melissa West; twelve great grandchildren, Katelynn Helm, Savannah Helm, Ryan Helm II, Aubrey Helm, Ashley Claudio, Roberto Claudio, Ashley Evans, Priscillia Evans, Felicia Stockstill, Jayden West, Colton West, and Alyssa West;  ten great great-grandchildren, Ariana, Kayla, Dawson, Justin, Tyler, Abby, Liam, Jaxton, Bodi Tate, and Ayden.

A native of Manati, Puerto Rico, Gloria moved to the United States and became a resident of Louisiana in 2008. She was a strong Christian woman and very family oriented. Gloria was loving, caring, and very protective of her family. She will be forever missed and remembered for the legacy of love she leaves behind to all who knew her.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 3:00 P.M.

Visitation at the funeral home on Saturday after 1:00 P.M. until funeral time.
