Harold James Plourde Sr., a proud United States Marine, devoted husband, father, and beloved family patriarch, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Slidell, on May 8, 2025, at 95.

Born in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1929, Harold completed high school before relocating with his family to Miami, Florida, where he began a life defined by service, learning, and determination. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Tri-State University.

In 1957, Harold married the love of his life, Lucille Plourde. Their 68-year marriage was a shining example of enduring love and partnership. They raised four children: Harold Plourde Jr. (Aurora), Jennifer Abbott, Suzanne Flynn (Terry), and Elizabeth Robson. He was the proud grandfather of Angela and Daniel Davis, Mark and Savannah Rachel, Brian and Judy Landry, Sarah Hoover, and Michael Abbott. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Heath Blanchard, Clayton Davis, Mathew and Hailey Rachel, Nathan, Nicole, and Jan Landry.

Harold lived life with joy, energy, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He loved water activities, including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, and scuba diving. He also enjoyed bowling and bridge, though golf was his greatest passion, marked by the rare accomplishment of two holes-in-one. Harold and Lucy were longtime Tammany Twirlers Square Dance Club members, sharing countless memorable evenings on the dance floor. He also treasured his time at Pinewood Country Club, where he formed lasting friendships.

Harold was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Dora Plourde, and his brothers Alfred, Edward, and John. He is survived by his brother Arthur Plourde (Peggy), whose companionship and shared memories remained a cherished part of Harold's life. He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his country, deep devotion to his family, and vibrant spirit. His kindness, quiet strength, and sense of community will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

Graveside Service will be held at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10:00am.

Arrangements are entrusted to Honaker Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Slidell Veterans Cemetery.
