Obituary

Helen Masters Stevens, age 91, of Poplarville, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026. She was born on May 2, 1935, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Al Joseph and Edna Reuther Masters.

Helen will always be remembered for her strong work ethic, her love of cooking, and, most of all, her wonderful sense of humor and ability to make those around her laugh. She had a way of making people feel welcomed and loved, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Helen is survived by her two children, Chuck Stevens and Patricia Kubicki; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her beloved baby brother, Richard "Rip" Masters. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Stevens Byrd; her older brothers, Roland Masters and John Masters; and her younger brother, Robert "Bobby" Masters.

Although Helen did not grow up with sisters, her brothers blessed her with three wonderful sisters-in-law whom she loved and adored. She is now reunited with Sandra D. Masters, wife of John; Avie F. Masters, wife of Bobby; and Sandra C. Masters, wife of Richard "Rip."

Helen worked for many years and retired from St. Tammany Parish Hospital, where she served in Dietary Services. In her later years, she continued working and became a familiar and beloved presence at Big Mama's Cajun Kitchen in Poplarville, Mississippi.

Helen's life was filled with family, friendship, hard work, laughter, and love. She will be deeply missed, but the memories she created and the love she shared will remain with her family and friends forever.

Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
