Helen Story, of Pearl River, LA, passed away on September 9, 2024, at the age of 93 in Covington.
She was the beloved wife of the late Lyle Story and the loving mother to Donna Shields (Terry), Brian Story (Debbie), Dean Story (Raye Ann), and Ronald Story (Anne). Helen is remembered by her sister Cecile Tregle and was preceded in death by her sisters Therese Messa and Anne Salvaggio. Her cherished family includes grandchildren Chad Shields (Angela), Kelly Pedersen (Scott), Benjamin Story (Kristen), the late Ashley Story, Shane Story (Hailey), Kyle Story (Megan), Josh Story (Ann), Leigha Story, Kayla Story, Christopher Sparnecht (Brianna), Christina D'Angelo, and Lucien D'Angelo; and great-grandchildren Madison D'Angelo, Patrick Doll, Wyatt Story, Eli Shields, Connor Sparnecht, Shea Story, Thomas Story, Grace Shields, Adaline Sparnecht, Charlie Story, Reese Story, and Lyla Pedersen.
Helen was affectionately known as DeDe, Granny, and Mom by those who loved her. Her vibrant personality was evident in her love for crossword puzzles, puzzles, and Hallmark movies. She cherished the Poillon & Story family gatherings, which always brought her immense joy. Family meant everything to Helen. Her warmth and sharp wit made a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with unwavering strength and guidance. May God welcome Helen into Heaven with open arms. Her legacy will endure through the deep connections she fostered with her family and the joy she brought into everyone's lives.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 66192 St. Mary Drive, Pearl River, LA, on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 12:00 noon.
Visitation at the church on Thursday after 10:00 A.M. until funeral time.
Interment will follow at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pearl River, Louisiana.
