Obituary

Hoyt Eugene Reese, age 76, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, in Slidell, Louisiana where he had resided for the last 60 years.

He was born September 2, 1948, in Marks, Mississippi to the late James and Dot Reese.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Connie Arceneaux Reese; his children, Michael, Sean, Anh Nguyen-Nguy (Jack), and Thu Nguyen (Jovian); his grandchildren, Mason (Keegan), Tanner (Emily), Rachael, Noah, and Micah; as well as three great-grandchildren, Jasper, Maverick, and Ruby. Hoyt is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Jimmy (Margery), Tom (Cynthia), Tommy Arceneaux (Alys), Nancy Jones (Dan), and Danielle Arceneaux.

Hoyt was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and developed a long professional history of service to others. He served as an X-Ray Technician in the Louisiana Army Reserves, served as a member of the first SWAT team and as a hostage negotiator with the New Orleans Police Department, served as a patrol and undercover officer with the Slidell Police Department, a case worker for the 22nd Judicial District Drug Court, and as an agent with the I.R.S.

Hoyt was an outgoing person with a huge heart. His greatest joy was found in family and friends. Bragging to everyone about his grandkids was his favorite thing to do. He also took great joy in watching dance competitions, building sets for performances, watching drum line presentations, sharing stories from his career as a police officer and from his childhood, playing nerf ball, army soldiers, family trips to Disney, watching cowboy or war movies on TV, listening to loud 50's music in the car, attending Slidell & Salmen High School football games, as well as sharing breakfast and coffee with his buddies. Hoyt lived a great life and will be deeply missed.

Hoyt will be laid to rest at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
