Ilene Smith, 79, of Slidell, Louisiana, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

Ilene was born May 14, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to William and Rita Hannon (nee' Baudier).

In 1976 she married Nick Smith in New Orleans and, in 1979, the couple moved to Slidell, with stops along the way in Lafayette, LA, Houston and Dallas, TX.

She was a parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell and was a member of numerous civic and church orginizations throughout the Slidell area. She enjoyed crafting, card games, her dogs and her beloved New Orleans Saints.

Ilene was beautiful inside and out, never without her contagious smile or a kind word for the many friends she loved so dearly.  A devoted wife and mother, she touched the lives of everyone around her and made the world a better place.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over thirty years, Nicholas Smith; and a sister, Dian Moffett.  She is survived by three children, Kyle Smith, Kristen Smith, Kara Amond (David); a brother, William Hannon; and a sister, Debbie Morris; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA 70460 on Friday, January 19, 2024.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, with the mass following at 2:00pm.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
