James "Jimbo" Bonnet, 84, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Slidell.

Jimbo was born December 28, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1996 he married Sylvia Case in Metairie, Louisiana.  In 2009 the family moved to Slidell.

Jimbo was an honorary member of American Legion Post 185 in Slidell, and an avid supporter of veterans through the American Legion Post 185 and American Legion Post 374.

He was preceded in death by three children, Steven Bonnet, Beth Bonnet Norris, and Scott Bonnet: seven brothers, Paul Bonnet, Louis Bonnet, George Bonnet, Kenneth Bonnet, Ronald Bonnet, Robert Bonnet, and Sheldon Bonnet.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Case; children; Timothy Bonnet, Charlotte Rigaud (Arthur), Gaetano Roy Sergi Jr. (Ann), Evelyn Manale (Pete); grandchildren, Brittany Rushing (Cory), Brooke Thomas (Brody), Michael, Casey, Gaetano Sergi, III (Blair), Jennifer (Jordan) Zack, Pete (Kaytin), Amelia, Tessa, Blake, Eddie, Alexis, Alex, Taylor, 14 great-grandchildren, and other relatives.

Jim/Jimbo/Gramps did not know a stranger, he loved to cook and share what he cooked with everyone, if you met him, you eventually had the pleasure of tasting his creations. His love for his wife and family was seen by all; he was always present in our lives and will be greatly missed by all that had the opportunity to meet him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at American Legion Post 185, 1680 St. Ann St. Slidell, LA 70460, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 3:00pm until 5:00pm.
