James Thomas Fowlkes, 90, of Slidell, LA passed peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, Oct 1, 2022, after a valiant battle with cancer.

He was born in Memphis, TN to Thelma Blackwood Fowlkes and Thomas "Tommy" Fowlkes.  At a very young age he and his mother moved to Houston, TX.  Jim, as he was known by his friends, attended the University of Houston and graduated with a degree in Petroleum and Chemical Engineering.  In Houston he met and married Marilyn "Joyce" Hofmann and they soon welcomed 5 children.

James is survived by daughter Diane Boudreau and husband Dan, daughter Susan Waitz and husband Tim, son James Thomas Fowlkes Jr. and wife, Anna, daughter Marilyn Marsanskis and husband Steve, and son David Fowlkes and wife, Colleen, as well as 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his 1 ^st wife Joyce and late wife, Diane Maynard and beloved grandson Jacob Fowlkes.

He had a lengthy career in the Oil and Gas industry, from which he retired in his mid-80's.  Jim always had a joke to tell, followed by his boisterous laugh, and he always had an interesting story from his life to share.  He traveled extensively with Diane Maynard and had many great adventures.  He was a skilled dancer and loved to show off his moves.

A Celebration of his life for close family and friends will be held at 1649 Vela Cove, Slidell, LA on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 6:00pm.
