James Daniel Lemoine, of Slidell, LA, was born on February 19, 1937 and passed away in the arms of his loved ones on June 3, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Ovide Joseph Lemoine and Eleanor Agnes Lemoine, his sister; Helen Brister and husband Charles Brister, his brother; Charles Hunter Lemoine, his beloved daughter; Elizabeth Ann Massulla and her mother Delores Cousin Lemoine.

James is survived by his wife of 46 years, Wanda Streetman Lemoine, his son; Daniel James Lemoine, his daughters; Alicia Byrd Lirette (Aaron Lirette) and Desire' Lemoine Cook (Adam Cook), five granddaughters; Melissa Massulla Marino, Lauren Massulla, Celeste Lirette, Taylor Lemoine, Ava Cook, five grandsons; Nathan Lirette, Colin Lirette, Evan Lirette, Joshua Lirette, Avery Cook, one great granddaughter; Skylar Maureau, four great grandsons; Anthony Marino, Wesley Marino, Brendan Marino, and Bryce Marino.

He also leaves behind three sisters; Judy Dibuno (Sal Dibuno), Patricia Beck, and Kathy Landry (Evarist Landry). Along with multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.

James was a true Cajun, born in Plaucheville, La. and moved at the age of 12 to New Orleans where he worked and lived until 2004.  After retiring from Metro News Company for 25+ years as a sales manager in books and magazines, he also started a new career with Lance Cracker company for 25 years and later moved to the city of Slidell.

As a young man he served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany, being honorably discharged after two years. During this tour of duty he suffered a horrific tragedy when his young wife, Juanita Dauzat Lemoine, of two years died in a plane crash heading to Germany to join him.  He later experienced a second tragedy losing his second daughter during child birth.

James rose above these odds to live a very productive life. He never met a stranger, had lots of friends and enjoyed his family members. He enjoyed cooking and eating while making others eat as well. He was an avid reader of spy novels, loved horse racing, football, camping, and taking cruises in his later years.  He was an amazing father, husband, grandfather, friend, and manager.  He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.  Although our hearts are broken we know he is in the arms of God.  His greatest advice was to never hold grudges and to love everyone.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME,

on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 1:00 P.M.

Visitation on Friday after 11:00 A.M. until funeral time.
