James William Thomas, age 97, a longtime resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana.

James was born November 30, 1928, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country in WWII and Korea. After serving in the Military, he went on to pursue his Education. He earned his bachelor's from University of Missouri and master's in electrical engineering from University of Wisconsin.

He had a love for animals and music.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Edna, and Father, J. Ross Thomas; and a sister, Alice P.

He leaves behind a loving wife of 61 years, Eugenia M. Thomas; son, David Thomas (Melissa); grandchildren, Daniel Thomas (Abigail), Savannah Thomas, and Stephan Thomas; nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 North 8th Street in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, at a later date.
