With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jerry Wayne Isbell, 71, peacefully at his home in Slidell, LA. on Sept. 30, 2026.
Jerry was a beloved great-grandfather, grandfather, father, husband and proud retired marine. He was born on Nov. 18, 1954, in Birmingham, AL to parents Nan and J.C. Mallard, later adopted by Eugene and Betty Ann Isbell. A graduate of Phillips High School in Birmingham, he went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp for 21 years. He went on to receive his master's degree and worked in IT until his retirement. He enjoyed genealogy, Alabama football, his faith, and family. Jerry lived a life defined by strength, honor, loyalty, and love for his family. He carried with him the values of discipline, courage, and commitment long after his military service came to an end. To his family and friends, he was more than a marine; his presence, stories, wisdom and love will forever remain a part of the lives of those who knew him. Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we are grateful for the years we were blessed to have him. We will honor his memory by carrying forward the values he lived by and by loving one another the way he loved his family.
A resident of Slidell since 1988, Jerry is survived by his wife of 31 years Judy Isbell; his sisters, Joyce Lassiter, Diane Rexroth and Gayle Summers; and his children, Patrick Isbell, Scott Abshire, Donna Abshire and Tonya Walker. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Raedawn Holden, Cheyanne Clavin, Dalton Rimmer, Lyric Abshire and Joshua Isbell; and great- grandchildren, Lynnox, Layla, Khalen, Ruby, Wyatt and Mia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Monday, October 10, 2026, at Honaker Funeral home 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell, LA 70460 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 12:00 P.M. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
