John Arthur Arruebarrena, Sr., age 97 years, of New Orleans, LA, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

Beloved husband of the late Marie Giordano Arruebarrena for 66 years. Cherished father of Ann, Johnny Jr., and Christine. Son of the late Marcel Arruebarrena and Ethel Moore Arruebarrena. Brother of the late Marcel Arruebarrena, Jr., Ethel Boudreaux, Delores Russo, Yvonne Stortz, Raymond Arruebarrena, and Lucille Mancuso. "Paw Paw" is survived by 5 grandchildren, Joshua (Kayleigh), Jesse, Zachary, Heather (Lee) and Lindsey (Timmy), and 9 great-grandchildren, Kai, Mia, Porter, Remy, Liam, Caroline, Andrew, Jack and Charlie, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Melinda Smith whose love and guidance has been a special blessing.

He was born in New Orleans and was a resident of New Orleans and Slidell. He was one in a million. As a very young man, he bravely fought as a Navy Seaman in WWII, a pride he carried throughout his life. Prior to and after the war, he worked as an electrician for the railroad until retirement. Those who knew him knew he was the hardest working man you would ever meet. He was the best husband, Dad, and Paw Paw you could wish for. He always made sure we went on amazing vacations and had anything we needed or wanted. Dad was there for anyone who needed him. He will be remembered for his love, strength, sincerity, compassion, hard work, sense of humor and incredible bank of knowledge on any subject. He was the original Google. We know he's at peace now, dancing with our beautiful Mom.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE BLVD WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA, on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 9:00 A.M. until service time at11:00 A.M.

Interment will be in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY.
