John Moore, known by all as Jack, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the age of 76.  He was a lifelong resident of the Pearl River/Slidell/Picayune area.  He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Marion and Lena Mae Moore on Monday, October 7, 1946.  In September of 1965, he married his wife of 57 years, Jean Miller in Slidell, Louisiana.

Jack was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Moore, his brother Marion "Bunny' Moore, and his parents.

Jack is survived by his wife, Jean Moore, his son Jeff Moore, daughter-in-law Annette, his daughter Kelly McCoy, son-in-law Scott, his six grandchildren, Jeff Moore Jr., Daniel Moore, Gabrielle McCoy, Abigail McCoy, Madisen McCoy, and Ryleigh McCoy, two great grandchildren, Jack Moore and Emma Moore, two brothers, Bob Moore and Mike Moore, and other relatives.

Jack was truly a "Jack" of all trades.  He was a licensed pilot, an architectural draftsman, home builder, roofing consultant, and a former employee of NASA.  In 1985, he and Jean formed J. Moore Transporters, which fueled his love of travel. From the Great Smoky Mountains back across the country to his favorite, the Rockies, Jack was truly the "Great American Truck Driver".  He traveled to many states, sometimes with family, sometimes with friends, delivering to many locations across the USA.  He could tell you the routes to take, places to visit and where every Dairy Queen was located.  He was a car enthusiast with a love for Hot Rods and drag racing.  He will be remembered for many things, but the best of those will be a husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Funeral Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, LA 70461, on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
