John Pennino, of Lacombe, LA, passed away peacefully, at home, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the age of 95. He was born in New Orleans on January 7,1928.

John was a WWII Navy veteran. He retired from the New Orleans Police Department after serving 30 years. He then organized and directed the Charity Hospital Security Police for an additional 11 years. During his tenure he taught firearms and was a member of the N.O.P.D. Shooting Team for many years. He taught for numerous police departments and was associated with Professional Security Training Institute since 1986 teaching firearms, classroom training, baton, and criminal justice.

John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Owen Pennino, children Linda Hingle, Camille Christiansen (Edward), John Sr. (Cheryl), Bridget Vivien (Kevin), 7 Grandchildren Stacy Cointment (Clint), Patty Traylor (Shane), Angela Ingargiola (Stephen), Melissa Guedimin (Monty III), Jennie Roberts (Dave), John Pennino Jr. (Shannon), Jessica Shambra,16 Great-Grandchildren (Spouses), and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. All were the joy of his life.

John is preceded in death by his late wife, Geraldine Scott Pennino, his daughter in law, Cheryl Canatella Pennino and his grandson Colin William Vivien.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 7:00 P.M.

Visitation on Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
A private interment will be held at the Southeast Veterans Cemetery.
