Josephine "Josie" Halbert, age 71, of Slidell, LA, passed away on September 28, 2025, at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

Josie is survived by her husband, Gail Allen Halbert; their son, Haze Michael Halbert; and her brother, Clifford Joseph Evans.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Clifford Edward and Olivia Evans, and her half-brothers, Jim Evans and Bobby Battle.

Josie was an avid animal lover. She loved her cats, her chickens, and any other animal that would come into the yard, except for the raccoons. Josie loved her garden and all of her flowering plants. Josie had a real talent for writing poems. There are many books filled with poems she had written. She loved the lord and her church, Glory Church Assembly of God. Josie had a great love of her family as well as her church family. She will be missed deeply, but we know she's in the presence of her savior Jesus Christ.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 2:00 P.M.

Interment will follow in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY.

Visitation at the funeral home on Monday after 12:00 P.M. until funeral time.
