Joyce Bertaut, 89, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, October 5, 2026, in Slidell.

Joyce was born February 22, 1937, in Slidell, Louisiana, to Webster and Myrtle Clement. In 1959, she married Buddy Bertaut at St. Genevieve Church in Slidell.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Buddy Bertaut; two children, Marie Henry (Craig), Beth Campbell (Paul); one sister, Diane Himber; five grandchildren, Sara Campbell, Ian Campbell (Staci), Drew Henry, Cary Henry (Heather), Casey Henry (Shelly); two great-grandchildren, Violet Henry, Sunny Henry; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Joyce’s greatest joy was celebrating the holidays with her family and loved hosting these family events. She was very proud of the home she and Buddy nurtured for over 60 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Buddy, her grandchildren and friends. She loved reminiscing about her trip to Maine, seeing Niagara Falls and her numerous trips to Washington, D.C. Joyce was a life-long member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and relished the loving friendships she developed and nurtured with fellow parishioners.

Joyce attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and was a graduate of St. Stephens Catholic High School in New Orleans. She was a very dedicated employee of St. Tammany Parish Schools serving as a school secretary at St. Tammany Junior High School and Clearwood Junior High School over her 30 year career. Joyce loved to work and interact with the public and continued working after her retirement from the school system as an office manager at All Smiles Orthodontics. She finally fully retired at the age of 80.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 400 Westchester Blvd Slidell LA on Monday, November 23, 2026. Friends may visit at the church beginning at 12:00 noon. The Mass will begin at 1:00pm.

Burial will be in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
