Joycelyn "Joy" Rodrigue Leto, peacefully passed away on June 4, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born, along with a twin sister Gayle "Gay" on July 14, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She resided in Slidell, Louisiana for 41 years with the love of her life Captain Benny Leto Jr. She was a devoted wife to Benny Leto Jr. for 58 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clay Joseph Rodrigue and Mae Marie Dugas of Ascension & Iberville Parish LA; and brothers Richard Rodrigue and Robert Rodrigue (Bessie). Loving mother to and preceded in death by her son Keith Joseph Leto.
She is the loving twin sister of Gayle "Gay" Rodrigue Daquin. Devoted and loving mother of Kim Leto Altobelli (Randall). Loving stepmother to Denise Cotogno (Heidi), Lucinda Leto Richmond, and Ben Hubert. Proud grandmother (Mawmaw) to Justin M Baudier (Yuna) and Andrea A Hutto (Taylor). Proud step-grandmother (Mawmaw) to Brett Cotogno, Bradley Richmond (Macey), Brandi Cotogno Lopez (Dusty), Brittany Cotogno Melara (Stephen), and Jack Richmond (Fran). Proud and loving great-grandmother of 8 great-grandchildren. Adored by many nieces and nephews (Aunt Joy) that she loved as her own.
Joy adored and was supportive of her husband (Benny) and was the love of his life. Together they built businesses and spent time fishing together. She participated in many activities in her communities throughout the years.
Joy was devoted to her family. She always created a warm and comfortable home for her husband and children. She loved spending time with family and friends. Family gatherings and vacations were one of her biggest joys in life. She enjoyed painting and playing cards with family and friends.
Our Mom, Mawmaw and Aunt Joy will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:00 A.M.
