June Fey Chighizola, 77, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a resident of Slidell for the past 26 years, passed away at home, peacefully, on Saturday, December 23, 2023, while surrounded by her loved ones, in Slidell.

June was born August 2, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Staff Sgt Ernest Fey and June Powers Fey. June holds Bachelors and a Masters Degree from Loyola University in New Orleans.  In 1970 she married Gibson C. Chighizola. In 1997 the couple moved to Slidell. She retired from the Orleans Parish School System.  Over the years she taught at John F. Kennedy High School, O. Perry Walker High School, and McDonogh 35 High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Staff Sgt Ernest Owens Fey and June Powers Fey; and a son Ryan Charles Chighizola.

June is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Gibson C. Chighizola; one son, Jeffrey M. Chighizola Sr. (Maria); two grandchildren, Jeffrey M Chighizola Jr., Ashley Marie Chighizola; cousins, and other relatives.

Funeral Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, in Slidell, on Friday, December 29, 2023.  Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by the funeral mass at 12:00 noon.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
