Karen Marie Hagen Roberts, age 83, a former resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2024, in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Karen was born on June 20, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Einar Fritzhof Hagen and Laverne Marie Hagen.
Karen was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her three children, Bob Lee Cogdell, Steven Einar Cogdell and wife Mary, and Jeanie Marie Monti. She is also survived by her three brothers, David Einar Hagen, Richard Gunnard Hagen, and Roger Syver Hagen. Karen was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren, Steven Einar Cogdell, Kristen Marie Wood and husband Jonathan, Caitlyn Marie Monti, and Cara Michelle Holmes and husband Kelsey, and cherished her ten great-grandchildren, Rhett Wilson Cogdell, Wyatt Steven Cogdell, Eli Jackson Wood, Evelyn Grace Wood, Emmet James Wood, Colton Michael Holmes, Lela Ann-Marie Holmes, and Harper Monti Holmes. Her loyal dog, Eddy, survives her as well.
Karen was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Alfred Roberts, and her parents, Einar Fritzhof Hagen and Laverne Marie Hagen.
Alongside her many years as a devoted homemaker focused on her family, Karen also worked as an administrator in medical and dental offices, as well as in real estate. She had a deep love for reading and enjoyed many novels by her favorite author, Debbie Macomber. She was also an excellent cook, known for her delicious meals that brought joy to her family and friends. Karen's house was always the gathering place where neighbors came for coffee and company. Recently, she found joy in sitting in her swing, enjoying the beauty of each day with Eddy faithfully by her side.
A private memorial service for family will be held at Honaker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Karen's warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family will be dearly missed. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
